FAQs

Everything visitors usually ask

Pricing, visiting advice, food, accessibility, weather, and what to expect on the day.

How much do your pumpkins cost?

The pumpkins vary in price depending on their size, from £2.

When is the best time to visit?

We have planted almost 90,000 plants, but the bigger and popular varieties do tend to sell out sooner, so if you are looking for something specific please plan to visit early. Remember your uncarved pumpkin will last, just keep it in a dry and cool place (not in the house, a garage or shed is perfect, or even in your garden or balcony it will be fine) and carve it close to Halloween.

Which varieties do you grow?

This year we have planted over 50 different varieties of pumpkins, from the traditional jack-o-lantern orange varieties to lots of different colours, shapes and sizes. If you are looking for something specific, please ask a member of the team who will be happy to help.

Do we need to book?

Entrance will be by ticket only. Tickets are available to purchase via our website Book tickets page. Please either print or show entrance tickets upon entry. You will not be permitted on site without a ticket. Tickets are for a timed entry but you are welcome to stay with us for as long as you like. When dates or timed entry are sold out we would not be able to admit without a ticket unfortunately.

Can I come along if I haven’t pre-booked?

On a date when we have availability, you can attend and pay on the entrance, however when a date or time slot is fully booked we wouldn’t be able to admit without a pre-booked ticket. Entrance on the gate is charged at £3.00 per person for 16 years and over and £1 for 3-15 year olds.

Do you serve refreshments?

Yes — and not just refreshments. We have our fabulous farming neighbours, Oakfield Farm who cook freshly homemade burgers, flavoured sausages, pumpkin pie, soups and lots of other delicious goodies. They also serve hot and cold drinks, and on specific days will have their themed candyfloss. We also have other local eateries with us for you to visit and enjoy.

What happens if the weather is bad?

You’re still more than welcome to pick your pumpkin, but please ensure that you wear sensible shoes and waterproofs. If the forecast is bad, please check our social media pages and the news page on our website for updates regarding closures. We are an outdoor business based in the UK in autumn, so we will not close simply because it’s rainy, however on some occasions of heavy rainfall when the ground conditions are deemed to be too slippery for parking and access we may have to close.

How much does it cost?

Tickets are priced at £2.50 for visitors aged 16 years and over. Children aged 3-15 are free entry during off peak dates when accompanied by someone 16 and over, and £1 each on peak dates. Children under 3 are free entry and do not require a ticket. Booking fees of 25p per ticket apply to tickets excluding free tickets.

What do I need to bring?

Just wear your wellies and appropriate clothing, and maybe a strong carrier bag to transport your chosen pumpkins home.

Is it far to walk?

The closest parking spaces are about 50 metres from the pumpkin field. Please ask a member of the team should you require assistance.

Is it wheelchair or pushchair accessible?

The pumpkin field is via a farm track which you should be able to access with a suitable wheelchair or pushchair. However, the pumpkin patch itself may be very muddy and the ground will be uneven making access difficult, if you’re having problems, a member of the team will gladly assist where they can. Sadly, the pumpkin trail is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.

How do I know which pumpkin to choose?

All our pumpkins are edible, although some are more flavoursome and others easier to carve, please ask a member of the team if you need specific advice and they will be only too happy to help and point you in the right direction. We also have a pumpkin recipe close to the pumpkin checkouts, feel free to visit and take photos of recipes to try.

Are dogs allowed on site?

We have opened our pumpkin fields up to well behaved dogs this year. Please keep your dog on a short lead and under control at all times, and you need to clear up any mess.

Do you accept card payment?

We accept card and electronic payment methods, such as Apple Pay.

Can I just turn up and pay on the entrance?

We strongly urge you to purchase your tickets in advance. Tickets will be on sale up to the day of the event so it may be possible to purchase your ticket on the day, however these are limited in number, so please purchase early to avoid disappointment.

How long do carved pumpkins last?

You should carve your pumpkin no more than 5 days before Halloween. You can however keep an uncarved pumpkin in a cool dry place for a good few weeks before you carve it and it will be perfectly happy.
